I love handmade cards. For a long time I used to paint and create my own but today I focus on making digital clip art for other creatives. One of my favorites to watch on youtube is GiftBasketAppeal and in this video she designs a beautiful autumn card. Her style is so elegant. I hope it inspires you.
If you aren’t quite ready for fall but still want a fun collection to make many designs for any occasion stay tuned for a card created from my newest collection, Pink Calico Kittys featuring 8 whimsical patterned cats and furnishings that you can use to decorate as you wish.
Pink Calico Kitty
I had great fun designing this collection and choosing patterns and elements to dress up my kitty surroundings and card. I began with this fun kitty to make my card because I wanted a contemporary yet fun arrangement and I just loved the way the pattern frames his cute little face.
Calico Kitty Card Design
I thought it would be fun to hide him behind one of the curtain elements included in the collection and attach a playful sentiment that can imply a variety of meanings.
I like the way he playfully peeks out behind one of the curtain elements included in the collection. Like playing with paper dolls I had a great time choosing patterns and elements for this collection and I hope ‘girls’ of every age will love it as they can easily switch out patterns and colors in Photoshop.
It can be sweet or sophisticated as you wish. Pair it with black or any color. In this instance I chose to create depth with shadows and make all the elements pop.
This card is offered as both a template and flattened jpg image in my Etsy Shop.
Pink Calico Kitty Elements
This collection comes with a range of elements you see here. Easily create a card with finished elements in pink or patterns or the simple shapes allow for quick pattern placement changes by selecting in Photoshop and then clip or cut out the selection on top of the pattern and paste on to a new layer. Elements offer line separation for fun mixing, matching, coloring, texturizing adding gradients or whatever you desire.
These elements can easily be used for scene creation as well and they can be paired up with other collections, how about with some nice pink or yellow flowers to create an elegant or sweet sentiment card or invitation. A range of pattern styles makes this easy to do. Below another kitty is in the garden and is teamed up with some flowers given a quick filter effect and other pattern elements from My Fair Lady Floral Design Collection to create a sweet whimsical background for a card or label. Go ahead mix it up, and see what fun pattern combinations you can create.
This collection was certainly fun to create and I can easily see creating more in a variety of colors and patterns. Like this kitty as fall approaches I am ready to curl up in a warm and comfy chair and begin thinking of more designs. I’m sure Tracey from GiftBasketAppeal will offer more inspiration for cards and many other things. Maybe a Christmas kitty….
