These faux wax seals mimic the color, finish and detail of wax stamped seals for decorative touches and for sealing documents or envelopes. Make a stash for on the go adornments. Document folds enhance the look of ephemera for tucking into any size journal and provide a nice presentation, add a seal for a vintage touch.

You’ll just need some packaging, a wax candle, embossing folders, a colorant like alcohol markers or watercolor. Choose a medium that dries completely and doesn’t flake, peel or stain so as not to damage your embossing folder. You’ll also need some glue and circle punches. You can cut your seals by hand if you don’t have circle punches. You’ll also need a hair dryer for melting your wax. A glue finish over your surface after coloring and drying keeps the wax from being completely absorbed into the packaging and ensures a very crisp and detailed emboss. Melt just a thin layer of wax to avoid cracking. Re-melt your wax in seconds if this happens and the cracking will disappear.

For the document folding you’ll need some letters or documents, some scrap paper to make tabs, a decorative punch if desired and some glue. You can make a tag corner for tabs if you don’t have a decorative punch. For large documents fold to fit your desired size.

These faux wax seals are an charming replacement for stickers or wax sealing and stamping. The document folds enhance your antique ephemera for presentation.

Happy paper crafting!
