Easy Everyday Envelopes
These easy envelopes assemble quickly with no measuring or fuss, just fold and glue. The cut is optional to avoid bulk in the fold. Any size or shape and the construction easily allows for adjusting to any card size. You can also use single sided paper to make either style, pointed flap or policy type envelope.
For a 5″x7″ card policy flap type envelope I used an 8.5″ by 12″ piece of scrapbook paper leaving 1/2″ for the fold and 1/4″ on each side for fitting the card into the envelope. You might want to adjust the width. If you want a pointed flap you will have to add to the height, you can do that by using wrapping paper or a larger paper sheet. You can fold the flap twice to hide the white inside or leave more room for the flap to be larger.
Tips:
- When making your diagonal “V” cut for the top of the inside fold be sure not to make it too deep so it is hidden by the top flap.
- Since tall envelopes are deeper make your diagonal “V” cut a little deeper too for easier access.
These envelopes can be suitable for mailing, but it’s best to check with your local post office. Use address labels to cover patterned designs for clear readability, and be sure to adhere the flap securely.
Envelopes are fun to make whether you use them around the house or office or for adding decorative additions to your journal. Use them to make an envelope journal. Vary the sizes or make an identical set as shown. These easy envelopes always look neat no matter your skill level so make a bunch today.
Happy paper crafting!
