DIY Acetate & Paper Stickers

These acetate stickers are created from recycled plastic, paper scraps and other easy to find items and will make a whimsical and fun addition to your paper craft embellishments. Pop them on cards, tags, gift bags or other paper crafts or make a bunch to sell at your next craft fair.

You’ll need plastic packaging/acetate, sheets or recycled. Foam tape or dots for dimension. Paper scraps and alcohol markers like Sharpie and/or acrylic markers. Assorted punches in different sizes and shapes or decorative scissors. If desired you can use glitter glue, pearlized glue or other decorative touches like rhinestones, jewels, pearls etc.

Begin by punching your acetate for your base. No matter your flower size this will always be your largest shape. Decorate as desired with sharpie or acrylic marker. Rim the edge, add some dots, make simple designs or color the acetate entirely.

Punch or cut out smaller shapes from a variety of paper scraps to begin layering your flowers. You’ll always wanted a gradation in size.

You can use your foam tape to raise any layer, the first, second or third but generally raise the first layer so your design on the acetate will show. You can also make these stickers flat with just one shape glued to the acetate. You can also just apply a sticker.

Have fun, use different punches like scallops, snowflakes, sunbursts or flower shapes and come up with as many whimsical flowers as you can. If you only have circle punches don’t worry, they’ll still look great and if you don’t have that just grab some decorative scissors and cut out some shapes in circle patterns. You can also die cut your acetate or paper.

Happy paper crafting!
