Matchbook Mini Journal

These matchbook style mini journals can be used for small art, collage or just as a simple notebook to tuck in your purse. They include a self closure that you can staple like a traditional matchbook cover, sew or enclose with an eyelet. Add a small envelope to hold your collage ephemera for on the go creating.

You’ll need a cover of your choice. This should be heavier paper like card stock, scrapbook paper or watercolor paper and some copy paper for your page inserts. You’ll also need a needle and some thread for binding.

Score your cover at 3″ and 6″.

Envelope paper size 3 1/2′ x 7 1/2″ – 8″

Fold and burnish your scored cover. Fold your copy paper in half and arrange your pages. Bind your journal. Sew 1/8″ to the inside of your small flap ensuring that you can insert the other side under it when folded. You might have to trim the left edge a tiny fraction.

Tie some extra threads to the outside binding thread for a fringe. Decorate your cover if desired.

Happy paper crafting!
