Ribbons crimps aren’t just for bookmarks. Use them to add a bit of metal to fabric or paper. They make it easy to create charms and scrappy dangles. The contained loop can be used as an attachment or to add beads or charms. Dangle them from a bent paper clip for instant fabric art to place in a journal or planner.

To get started you will need:

• ribbon crimps
• paper clips
• fabric
• jeweler’s pliers
• jump rings
• needle and thread
• embellishments of your choice
• fabric glue might be helpful

Arrange your fabric however you desire, secure the layers with thread and embellish with stitches, buttons, beads or charms.

A thicker fabric for the base of your fabric cluster makes it easier to attach the ribbon crimp. You might want to stiffen the edge with glue. 

Bend the bottom wire of your paper clip to create a loop for attaching your ribbon crimp. You will also need a jump ring for it to hang like a jewelry charm. Two loops on your paper clip add more sculpture but are not necessary. If you want to add a bead or charm use two ribbon crimps.

To make jewelry instead use a common safety pin, a safety pin without a coil or a kilt pin.  You can just attach a jump ring to your ribbon crimp to make make a simple charm.

Use a variety of sizes of ribbon crimps to make scrappy fabric, lace or ribbon dangles. Attach to a smaller paper clip or bulb pin.
