Fabric Cluster Hidden Paperclips
The secret to invisible paperclips is by using fabric clusters instead paper layers. The fabric adds dimension and texture without thickness, especially when you eliminate extra paper. Even better, only the bottom layer of fabric is adhered, so you avoid glue bleed-through. The result is a decorative and tactile accent that can be added into your planner or journal for a unique touch.
You will need some paper scraps sized to fit your paperclip, washi tape, thin cotton fabric, paperclips, glue (specifically for fabric if desired), a needle and thread and other embellishments. Paper buttons or simple standout decorative stitches are ideal.
Fold your scrap paper, slide a paper clip over it and cover your paper clip with washi tape for a smooth base. Layer these pieces into a loose cluster, then stitch them together with a few simple stitches or attach a button for added detail. Repeat this step so you have two matching fabric clusters.
Apply glue to both sides of the folded paper base and press a fabric cluster onto each side. Be sure you to leave the bottom edge accessible for smooth sliding onto your page.
Once everything is secure, your hidden paperclip is ready to use. These fabric-covered clips are perfect for adding a bit of texture and fabric flair to journal pages, envelopes, or pockets while keeping your inserts neatly in place. Happy paper crafting!
