Book Page Journal Cards

I was inspired by a greeting card and created these neutral book page journal cards using contrasting text, tone and a simple graphic shape as a focal point. Another common item journal card for when you want simple or neutral. You can also apply this technique to journal pages.

What you’ll need:

Assorted book pages

Bases

Glue

Die cuts or shapes

Choose contrasting neutral tones for your background and foreground. You can also use monochromatic color book pages. Try using text in opposite directions to create more movement and contrast. Use an odd number of shapes and arrange your focal points in a pleasing composition. I used simple graphic shapes like leaves, flowers, a cup and hearts for my focal point. If you don’t have dies you can use simple stamp shapes and cut them out or just draw freehand.

You can use acrylic paint or gesso to knock back your background if you desire or to hide unwanted words.

I hope this inspires you to think of more ways to use only book pages as design elements.

Happy paper crafting!
